The Structure of Academic Programmes

Currently, the SGS is offering Master of Technology (MTech) programmes in the Departments of Agricultural Engineering and Mechanical Engineering leading to the award of a Master of Technology (MTech) degrees. The MTech. in Agricultural Engineering has the following options:

i. Farm Machinery and Power Engineering
ii. Food and Post-Harvest Engineering
iii. Soil and Water Engineering

The programmes offered in the Mechanical Engineering Departments are:

i. MTech Production Engineering
ii. MTech Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineering
iii. MTech Automobile Engineering

Objective of Academic Programme

The Master of Technology (MTech) programmes are designed to impart to students’ high level theoretical and practical knowledge to tackle problems in industry as well as pursue further academic achievement through research and development.

Duration of Programmes

The MTech programmes are being run continuously for two (2) academic years (i.e. four (4) semesters on regular, weekend or sandwich basis.  This is equivalent to Maters by Research. From the 2022/2023 academic year, the Department of Agricultural Engineering has started offering Masters programme by taught (One-year) in the aforementioned options.

Prospects and Future Plans

The School plan to introduce new Master Degree programs by:

  1. Taught (One-year)
  2. Research (Two-years)

In the following Departments

  • Hospitality and Tourism Management
  • Food Science and Technology
  • Agricultural Science and Technology
  • Innovation and Entrepreneurship

In addition, the school will introduce short courses and seminars for industry players to beef up their capacities in relevant fields.
